    Thank you for your reply. I have rebuilt the kernel again without the
networking and re-ran the tests. The "basic" and "context" tests do pass.
The cache tests are still failing.

    I find this situation strange since I am using the same evaluation board
as one of the predefined templates in the eCos distribution. I have made no
changes. Does anybody know if this port/template has been tested before
(Motorola 8260 VADS)? I do not know if this is a real problem that needs to
be debugged, or just something I am doing wrong.

If context is failing you probably cannot context switch
properly. Since the stack uses threads, this would be a problem.

Similarly, quiet a few network devices need to play with caches, so if
they don't work, that could also be a problem.

Before doing more with the network stack i would try to solve these
problems. cxxsupp is not so important.

I don't have access to one of these boards. Gary might?

I did some digging around and found a test result from August on a
Adder PPC850 for the test cache. The test timed out rather than
completed. 

Try running the test by hand rather than using the configtool. Give it
a bit longer and see if it completes or crashes etc.

I do have one of these boards here and I just tried it.  All of the 
tests that I ran worked just fine.  Built from today's CVS using 
GCC 3.2.2

[ECOS] ECOS Networking with Redboot on 8260

  I have just started working with ECOS and I am having a problem running
the network stack in both redboot and the kernel.

  I am using a Motorola 8260 VADS module and have built and installed
Redboot with the network stack. This appears to work properly. I then built
the ECOS library with networking and attempted to execute the standard
tests. The system will lockup and timeout when attempting to execute any of
the tests. The last message displayed in the output window is "Init device
'fec_eth'".

  If I rebuild the ECOS library without networking, most of the standard
tests will execute and pass. The tests that still will not pass are: cache,
cxxsupp, execept1, kexcept1, kcache1, kcache2. I think that "basic" and
"context" tests also fail, but I will have to rebuild and test again to
confirm this.

  I have searched the ecos-discuss archives and found a message that
indicated that the IP address used by Redboot and the kernel must not be the
same. I tried this, but it did not help. I am using fixed IP addresses, i.e.
no bootp or dhcp.

  My application will require the network stack, and I would really prefer
to debug over the network instead of the serial port.

  If anybody has any idea what I may be doing wrong, please let me know.
