You can maybe set up your Windows 98 machine as a proxy to the internet....
There is a tool called "Internet Connection Sharing" that is supplied in
Windows 98 Second Edition (or you may be able to download it from
Microsoft) which I believe should allow you to access the internet from
your Linux box via your Windows machine.

Unfortunately that's the extent of my knowledge so you'll have to try and
sort the rest out yourself, or on Windows help groups.
