Hi  Lewin,

I have installed eCos (arm-elf) on a windows host twice with no problems
(I sometimes had to run some
step twice before it works properly). Once on WindowsNT4.d once on
Windows95.
I did tested several versions of cygwin, before I found one which worked
properly.
The cygwin version I've finally used was downloaded from
ludique.u-bourgogne.fr mirror.

I have used the following Gnu components:
binutils-2.10.tar.bz2
gcc-core-2.95.2.tar.bz2
gcc-g++-2.95.2.tar.bz2
insight-5.0.tar.bz2

the following patches:
ecos-gcc-2952.pat
insight-tcl.pat

If you send us the configure.out (and make.out) file I compare with mine
and check the differences.

Fano

How did you get it working under Win95? The install instructions
specifically state that it doesn't work in Win9x.

Ummm... but what version was it? By definition, a mirror site is a mirror -
it is updated when the main download site is updated.

>gcc-core-2.95.2.tar.bz2
>gcc-g++-2.95.2.tar.bz2

But gcc 2.95.2 doesn't support thumb-elf according to the eCos install
instructions. The chip I am using is ARM720T (Cirrus Logic EP7212). Can I
run arm-elf binaries on an ARM720T??

I will try again with 2.95.2 in arm and arm-elf mode and post the configure
and make results.

The frustrating part is that I know that someone MUST have got this working
once, because the EP7212 eval board is specifically mentioned on the
compatibility list. At some time, something has been updated and the magic
combination of versions that works has been lost forever :(

:(((( Spent a lot of hours and at least 400Mb of downloads so far with no
results, getting very frustrated.

Thanks for the reply, I am off to fight this system again...
