[ECOS] ELF to AXS

 Hi, i`m working with ecos under win98, I don´t have
 gnupru tools, and i need download my programs
 trought
 multi-ice server (arm provided), i use the arm
 tools,
 but the debugger don`t accept the elf format 
 generate
 by ecos.
 
 You know a program that translate the elf format to
 axs or elt to any format tath support the arm tools.

no such tool exists at the current time..

The reason you haven't received an answer is probably because nobody on the 
list is aware of the existence of a translation utility of the type you 
require. You can try asking again in comp.sys.arm - if anyone is going to 
know, it will be the ARM gurus in there.

If you want to work with eCos, you can download all the tools you need from 
the installation pages, free. Is there a particular reason you are trying 
to work with the ARM tools?

PS: You probably won't be able to build the GNU toolchain inside Win98. If 
you don't have access to a WinNT/Win2000 machine and you want to try the 
GNU tools, I can email you a precompiled copy (20Mb!) or make it 
temporarily available for you to download from one of my web sites.

I don't know that particular board. Does it have a serial port? If so, you 
should be able to get it working with gdb quite easily. (If you've ported 
eCos then you must have already ported the gdb stubs, or at least you've 
already done all the work required to port them).

Hmm, that is strange. gdb/insight (5.0) should have no problems building in 
Win2000 for ARM target. Actually, gdb builds OK in Win98 also (but insight 
doesn't work in Win98).

Like Carlos, I too am working with the ARM tools (SDK and ADS with
MultiICE).  This is because it is the platform used by the majority of the
application software that we already have.  What we as a company did not
have was an RTOS.  We chose eCos.

There is no compatibility with the elf format generated by eCos and that
understood by the ARM tool chain.  This caught us out as well!

I have succeeded in circumnavigating my problem (of having object code only
under ADS) by simply calling the routines at there location in memory... not
nice but it works...
