When I try to run a.out after compiling ...
I get the message "a.out: command not found".
Why is this? And how can I fiks the problem?

Most likely you don't have the current working directory in your path,
try:
./a.out

Try typing the full path as well as the command name. It doesn't search
current directory by default.

I had to add "." to the PATH, and it worked.

For security reasons, using . as part of the path is not recommended, and
Extremely bad for root accounts.
It is much better to remember to type ./a.out
