I'm trying to build (make bootstrap) GCC 2.95.2 & keep getting the
following error:
-c `echo /usr/local/src/gcc-2.95.2/gcc/cccp.c | sed 's,^\./,,'`
In file included from /usr/local/src/gcc-2.95.2/gcc/cccp.c:21:
config.h:8: /usr/local/gnu/xm-.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [cccp.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/gnu/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
It looks like the process is trying to find files actually located in
/usr/local/src/gcc-2.95.2/gcc/config/
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Greg

I think I had something screwed up in my default path, load library path
or something with the "--prefix" option when I ran the
configure. I redid it & it worked fine.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Try `make bootstrap', in case you didn't, as per the installation
instructions.

Incompatibility between GCC and the assembler. Which assembler are
you using?

GNU assembler version 2.8.1 (bsd/os), using BFD version 2.8.1

I get binutils-2.10, so I decide to install it. But then I got this error
(during binutils installation):
trad-core.c: In function `trad_unix_core_file_p':
trad-core.c:188: `USRSTACK' undeclared (first use this function)

But there were no word USRSTACK in trad-core.c ... It make me confuse.
FYI, I used GNU make-3.79 . Any help greatly appreciated.

Then you should report the problem to the binutils mailing list.

It looks like a declaration for function system() is missing in the
standard header files of whatever OS you're running, and such a
declaration appears to be necessary for std_cstdlib.h to compile
properly. We have to either fixinc stdlib.h or introduce a configure
test in libstdc++-v3 that detects whether there is a declaration of
::system() in stdlib.h.

Hi,
Looking in stdlib.h, I find:
/* Execute the given line as a shell command. */
extern int system (__const char *__command) __THROW;
Experimenting with a test program, I found that this error always occurs
unless <stdlib.h> and <unistd.h> are both included before <vector>.
HOWEVER...my app still won't compile, even after adding <stdlib.h> and
<unistd.h> before <vector>. What's going on here?
Sincerely,
Brent
