Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-mandrake-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Linux-Mandrake 8.0 2.96-0.48mdk)
>Description:
Issued configure with no arguements from the objdir. Then ran make bootstrap.
The build rolls for a while and dies with the following errors:

>How-To-Repeat:
Remove the gcc-3.0 and objdir directories, untar the gcc-3.0.tar.gz
file. Create a objdir outside of the gcc-3.0 directory. Make
objdir the current directory. Issue ../gcc-3.0/configure and
then make bootstrap. Wait....
