Synopsis: main() {return 0;} does not compile correctly

State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback
State-Changed-By: aoliva
State-Changed-When: Fri Sep 28 20:52:46 2001
State-Changed-Why:
    What is the assembly code you get when you compile this program (gcc -S ...)? The one I get looks quite reasonable.

State-Changed-When: Tue Oct  2 22:19:21 2001
State-Changed-Why:
    The assembly code is perfectly reasonable. The problem might be in the assembler, as you said, or in the linker, or in glibc. But GCC is doing its job perfectly, so I"m closing this GCC bug report.

>Description:
Background:
I wondered, why several configure-scripts regarded gcc-3.0.1 as a cross compiler. The attached _simple_ program demonstrates that. It compiles without errors, but at runtime the program exits with a segmentation fault.
Somewhat strange...

Compiler output:

none
