    You failed to post the exact command line, the preprocessed source code and the GCC version that failed, but I bet it was GCC 2.95.x, because this problem is already fixed in 3.0.1.  Remove -DNDEBUG from the command line or reduce -O2 to -O1 or -O0 and it will compile file with 2.95.3.
