Synopsis: gnats suggests sending to addresses that are restricted

State-Changed-From-To: analyzed->closed
State-Changed-By: gerald
State-Changed-When: Tue Nov 13 08:19:24 2001
State-Changed-Why:
This is a duplicate of 4786. Is the latter has a bit more
technical information, I close the earlier report.

(I believe part of the problem has been fixed by now, in that
the address should not bounce any longer.)

The correct address for replies is gcc-gnats@gcc.gnu.org. I previously
 pointed out to overseers
 <URL: http://sources.redhat.com/ml/overseers/2001-q3/msg00573.html > that a
previously working configuration including this in status change messages
had broken and this was causing relevant information about bug reports to
be missing from GNATS, but there were no replies.

I replied to a gcc gnat report using the suggested addresses, including gcc-prs@gcc.gnu.org and got the
following message:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at sourceware.cygnus.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<gcc-prs@gcc.gnu.org>:
Sender: wambold@pobox.com
This mailing list is not for general discussions. Please resend your mail note to a more appropriate list.

So, if you're not supposed to send to gcc-prs, gnats shouldn't suggest doing so.
>How-To-Repeat:
Reply to a report using the address provided.
>Fix:
Take out gcc-prs from list if it's not to be used OR
allow postings to gcc-prs.
