    How did you configure gcc before building it?
    If you are configuring it to be built in the same
    directory as it is going to be installed in,
    then that is probably not going to work.

 I always use sth like --enables-shared and --prefix=/usr.../3 (I don't know
 how this prefix is called exactly at the moment!, I think you know what I
 mean!)
 Sorry, but related to bug 5243 I can't compile gcc yet, so I temporary can't
 tell you everything....!
