 Sorry, I seem to have lost the last mail, just found the answer on the web.
 Problem remains though, and is till in 3.0.3

 Confirmed (it says binutils 2.11.2 or later, glibc 2.2.4 or later):
 from dpkg -l:

 ii binutils 2.11.92.0.12.3 The GNU assembler, linker and binary utiliti
 ii libc6 2.2.5-3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone

 Also, this bug is still in 3.0.3:
 $ g++3.0 -v
 Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-linux/3.0.3/specs
 Configured with: ../src/configure -v
 - --enable-languages=c,c++,java,f77,proto,objc --prefix=/usr
 - --infodir=/share/info --mandir=/share/man --enable-shared --with-gnu-as
 - --with-gnu-ld --with-system-zlib --enable-long-long --enable-nls
 - --without-included-gettext --disable-checking --enable-threads=posix
 - --enable-java-gc=boehm --with-cpp-install-dir=bin --enable-objc-gc sparc-linux
