I patched my GCC source tree from 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 from offical sources.
I configured as above, and gave this command:

 make CFLAGS='-O' LIBCFLAGS='-g -O2' LIBCXXFLAGS='-g -O2 -fno-implicit-templates' bootstrap-lean

It churned for a good long while, and then bombed with this output:
