 strtod is just one of the files which failed to compile.  There are
 several more.  This effectively means that -march=3Dpentium4 is unusable
 when it comes to floating-point code.
 
 If the problem exists in gcc3.1 as well (as Jakub said) and this problem
 isn't resolved before the 3.1 release, then at least -march=3Dpentium4
 should *not* include -msse2.  Compiling all the files with
 -march=3Dpentium4 -mno-sse2 worked for me.

    I've fixed the reload problem on both mainline and release branch (3.1.1).  Still I would love to hear whether the whole glibc builds and works with -march=pentium4 and eventually with -march=pentium4 -mfpmath=sse too
