 To let you know: I actually had GCC 3 installed (had done it but was
 invoking the *wrong* compiler--the 2.96 version). I'm planning to write up
 a document that describes how to build a significant package and link an
 app using it together. I'll also be posting this on the list of projects
 that use GCJ.
 
 Thanks for your help and the efforts of the GCJ team.
