Synopsis: [3.4 regression] parser: invalid use of template type parameter

State-Changed-From-To: open->analyzed
State-Changed-By: paolo
State-Changed-When: Sun Jan 19 19:01:54 2003
State-Changed-Why:
    Neither happens with EDG-based compilers in strict mode.
    Seems definitely an high-priority regression.

The following reply was made to PR c++/9368; it has been noted by GNATS.

 Here's an even smaller testcase:

 ------------------------------snip here---------------------------
 template <typename T> struct A
 {
     T t;
     static void foo (A<T>&);
 };

 template <typename T> struct B
 {
     A<T> a;
     void bar() { typedef A<T> C; C::foo(a); }
 };
 ------------------------------snip here---------------------------

 With this testcase I get the message:

 PR9368.cpp: In instantiation of `A<T>':
 PR9368.cpp:10:   instantiated from here
 PR9368.cpp:3: error: `A<T>::t' has incomplete type
 PR9368.cpp:3: error: invalid use of template type parameter

 Volker

Compiling the attached testcase yields:

R1.cpp: In instantiation of `ACE_Refcounted_Auto_Ptr_Rep<X, ACE_LOCK>':
R1.cpp:53:   instantiated from here
R1.cpp:26: error: `ACE_Refcounted_Auto_Ptr_Rep<X, ACE_LOCK>::lock_' has
   incomplete type
R1.cpp:26: error: invalid use of template type parameter

This does not happen with gcc 3.2 or gcc 3.3.
