 In case anyone is interested, I had this bug while building gcc 3.2.2 on
 Solaris 2.6 with gcc 2.95.3.
 
 The solution proposed (--with-gnu-ld) works for me.

    If you don't explicitely give any ld path via --with-ld,
    which ld is it then picking up? If it is GNU ld, does it
    help if you specify --with-gnu-ld?
