Synopsis: CFLAGS not propagated to libgcc Makefile

State-Changed-Why:
In feedback for a long time. Wolfgang's comment is correct; 'this is not the variable we are looking for'. Maybe this will change when we clean up the GCC build process, but until then this isn't going anywhere.

Synopsis: CFLAGS not propagated to libgcc Makefile

State-Changed-When: Tue Nov 19 18:41:34 2002
State-Changed-Why:
This is quite an old bootstrap report. Could you please
re-check with a newer version of gcc and report whether
    it works or not?

Also, I think the correct way of doing this is setting
BOOTFLAGS instead. Please refer to the installation
instructions and tell us whether this fixes your problem.

    Thanks
      W.

As a test, I compiled gcc after editing top-level makefile to change CFLAGS & friends to aggressive optimization. Ran make (not make bootstrap, mind you...don't want to read _that_ much text) and tee'd output to logfile for careful scrutiny.

Everything appeared to be compiled with the specified options _except_ libgcc, which did not receive CFLAGS and could probably really benefit from a -arch= optimization :)
