    I can't reproduce on SunOS poog 5.9 Generic_112233-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60 with GCC 3.2.1 or GCC 3.2.2 .
    
    Your problem could be related to the "missing types" glitches described here http://gcc.gnu.org/install/specific.html#sparc-sun-solaris2*
    
    Is 'id_t' defined in the original sys/types.h ?
