Hello,
does anybody know the status of this problem on gcc 3.3 or mainline? Is
this still an issue? Thanks,
Dara

We can't avoid these file names, because that is what we generate for
nested classes. (It isn't really part of the java spec, but changing
it would be a significant amount of work.)
Last time this happened it meant that somebody upgraded libtool
without keeping track of the $-quoting hacks. I don't know if that
happened this time.

TLtest fails in the libjava testsuite.
The libjava.log file shows it trying to
build "Data$1.class" then gcj complains
that "/path/to/build/gcc/.class: no such
file or directory".
The "$1" is being expanded by the shell it
appears. So maybe the fix is simply to avoid
using the '$' character in testsuite file names.

Bootstrap 3.1 branch, run libjava testsuite.
