 could the submitter determine and report whether this problem still  
 occurs with a more current version of gcc (ie 3.2.3 or 3.3 prerelease)?  
 We do have a successful report of 3.2.2 building on  
 alphaev6-dec-osf4.0f, so I'm wondering if maybe this issue was resolve.

I noticed that in the libjava testsuite all the execution tests were failing
A quick look in the log gives the following message repeated
once for each execution test.
/sbin/loader: Fatal Error: lazy_text_resolve: symbol malloc should not have any relocation entry
This is beyond my knowledge of things so have no idea what
I should be looking at in order to fix this.
