What's the status with exceptions and optimizations?  The
egcs info talks about improved exception handling?  Do
optimizations work with exceptions now?

Exceptions should work with optimization enabled.

It works for me. It is even thread-safe on Linux/glibc 2 and many
other systems. Ooops. Can we put the thread-safe EH in egcs 1.0.2?

I don't think the thread-safe EH is suitable for egcs-1.0.2; we're
trying to just get critical bugfixes and such, not not features.
