You should go look at Scott's site (http://www.coyotegulch.com/) as he
does a lot of benchmarking.

RTFM. In all seriousness, you go to the main GCC page (http://gcc.gnu.org)
and look in the documentation sections. Some good starting places are:

   http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki
   http://gcc.gnu.org/readings.html

When you have read all of that, then come back and ask some more
questions. Cheers.

Dear Sir,

My name is Thomas Bernard. I am working as a Master Student for the UvA
(Universitat Van Amsterdam) in the section of Computers Systems
Architecture of the Informatics Institute.

I am doing a study about compilers. I have to monitor many existing
compilers and benchmark them. After I have to modify and optimize the
'back-end' part for multithreads models.

I have found your works and I would like to have more informations about
the IR (Intermediate Representation) during the compilation. For
example, if a file containing the IR is created during the compilation.
If there is another way,I would like to know how can I access the IR.
Is it easy to modify? etc...

If you can give me some documents about your IR (and RTL, Back-End).

Best wishes,
Thomas Bernard

Hi All,

I am new to using the gcc compiler.
I was wondering if there is a switch that will convert the code to SSA form and allow this new file with the code in SSA form to be viewed.

Kind Regards

David

Hi there, I saved and executed your software so that I could have a C
compiler. It was titled 2002-6-25FREAKS. I don't know how to use it? A
friend of mine had it installed under START PROGRAMS and it would go to the
DOS prompt. How can I make it like this? When I executed the download it put
8 folders on my c drive. Is it in one of the folders? Thanks
Ed

Just a thought. Cygwin (www.cygwin.com) supports gcc
2.95.3 on Win9x, WinNT, Win2000. If you need later
versions you have to make them yourself.

Ook? Yes I clicked the links. The Cygwin and GNU Win32

worked.

Nick,

The page at http://gcc.gnu.org/install/binaries.html lists binaries
for DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. I'm sure one of them
will work for Window ME.

Last time I looked, gcc.gnu.org, in the section about where to find pre-built
versions, had links to the cygwin and mingw distributions. They should be
found easily by web searches as well. Not that it wouldn't be worth your
effort to upgrade to a more recent Windows or to linux.

I am just getting into C++, and I was wondering if I
could get a copy of the GCC compiler. I am not stupid,
i checked the site. To my dismay, the only versions
were for far superior Linux users. I am not at that

You might fare better if you install the Cygwin package:
http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/

That has a more user-friendly installation, and is also available on CD.

Dear GCC and/or GNU,     I downloaded all four components GCC, binutils, mingw32 and the windows32api headers.   I followed the in structions on the installation page, unfortunately I was not successful getting the GCC Compiler to work.   The response is “Bad Command.”   Below is a copy of my AutoExec.bat file.   Below that is a outline of the folders.   If you can offer any advice I would appreciate it.   I want to be able to compile and execute C programs, I am just beginning to learn the language and am generally not to computer literate.   If there are “dumbed down” installation instructions please direct me to those.   Or I would be happy to purchase the software on a CD-ROM if that would make it easier for me to load and use.   (I was referred to your site by my professor Dr. Blaine Garfolo (SFSU)—he assumes more technical ability than I have.)   If you can provide me with any assistance I would certainly appreciate it.   You can eMail me at MSN.com, RobertsBrad.  Thank you for your help.   Autoexec.bat:   @ECHO OFF path=c:\windows;c:\windows\command;c:\MINGW32\BIN \hibinv.exe set C_INCLUDE_PATH=C:\MINGW32\include set CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=C:\MINGW32\include\g++;C:\MINGW32\include set LIBRARY_PATH=C:\MINGW32\lib set GCC_EXEC_PREFIX=C:\MINGW32\lib\gcc-lib\ call \checksr.bat IF "%config%"=="QUICK" GOTO QUICK set EXPAND=YES SET DIRCMD=/O:N set LglDrv=27 * 26 Z 25 Y 24 X 23 W 22 V 21 U 20 T 19 S 18 R 17 Q 16 P 15 set LglDrv=%LglDrv% O 14 N 13 M 12 L 11 K 10 J 9 I 8 H 7 G 6 F 5 E 4 D 3 C cls call setramd.bat %LglDrv% set temp=c:\ set tmp=c:\ path=%RAMD%:\;a:\;%path%;%CDROM%:\ copy command.com %RAMD%:\ > NUL set comspec=%RAMD%:\command.com copy extract.exe %RAMD%:\ > NUL copy readme.txt %RAMD%:\ > NUL   :ERROR IF EXIST ebd.cab GOTO EXT echo Please insert Windows Millennium Edition Startup Disk 2 echo. pause GOTO ERROR   :EXT %RAMD%:\extract /y /e /l %RAMD%: ebd.cab > NUL echo The diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive %RAMD%. echo.   IF "%config%"=="NOCD" GOTO QUIT IF "%config%"=="HELP" GOTO HELP LH %ramd%:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:mscd001 /L:%CDROM% ::If MSCDEX doesn't find a drive... Dear Sir,
My OS is sparc-sun-solaris2.6.
I tared successfully the gcc_2_95_1_tar.gz downloaded from .. I run the
"configure" command and I had the following:
# /export/home/gcc-2.95.1/configure
Configuring for a sparc-sun-solaris2.6 host.
Created "Makefile" in /usr/local using "mh-frag"
/export/home/gcc-2.95.1/configure: cc: not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler
Current my OS doesn't have any working compiler. I tried the cc command and
had the error message :"/usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not
installed".

How do I need to do more to install the GCC compiler.

Thanks .

Look around on the internet for pre-compiled gcc binaries. Try
http://smc.vnet.net (suns freeware site.) These binaries are usually
easy to find. However, most of them are compiled to install under
/usr/local/. If you do not have write permissions to /usr/local, you
will need to find binaries compiled to install into a dir you *do* have
  write permissions to.

Dear Sir,
My OS is sparc-sun-solaris2.6.

Thanks .
