I first installed gcc 4.5.0 on my Powerpc dual 970 machine with no
configuration options. That was successful, but the long long feature was
not enabled. Then I re-installed gcc 4.5.0 with this gcc v output:

Using built-in specs.
COLLECT_GCC=gcc
COLLECT_LTO_WRAPPER=/usr/local/libexec/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin9.8.0/4.5.0/l
to-wrapper
Target: powerpc-apple-darwin9.8.0
Configured with: ../gcc-4.5.0/configure --with-cpu-64=970 --with-tune-64=970
--enable-long-long --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran,java
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.5.0 (GCC)

The output from config.guess: powerpc-apple-darwin9.8.0

I also let GCC install gmp 4.3.2, mpc 0.8.1 and mpfr-2.3.1 (patched)

I had previously installed gmp 5.0.1 with the other two listed above. When I
ran configure for gcc 4.5.0, it stopped and told me I had the wrong version
of gmp/mpc/mpfr installed (it never said which one). So I stepped back to
the previous version of GMP, unstalled all three from /usr/local/include/
and /usr/local/lib/, then had GCC install them; I notice it did not use the
same directories.

How do I configure GMP 5.0.1 or any of the others to upgrade the installed
versions?

Regarding your installation notes for powerpc-darwin, I¹d already installed
Xcode on my machine. Definitely needed on a mac to install anything that's
not mac ready.

I had no luck installing ppl 0.10.2
It kept telling me I had the wrong version of gmp for both of the versions I
tried, even when I tried to have gcc install it.

FYI, I¹ll only have this machine for another six months or so before it¹s
upgraded.

You can get c++ working for darwin 5.5 (aka Mac OS X 10.1.5)
by using these patches:
I think you only need the std_cctype.h hunk of the patch.

C++ is supported "out of the box" for darwin 6.3
Java is being worked on, there are still issues though.

Thanks,
Andrew Pinski

I successfully built gcc 3.3 on a Mac G4 with system Mac OS 10.1.5.
Here is the information you request on your install webpage.

1) from config.guess
powerpc-apple-darwin5.5

2) from gcc-v
Reading specs from
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-apple-darwin5.5/3.3/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.3/configure --enable-languages=c,f77
Thread model: single
gcc version 3.3

Other comments:
I was not able to successfully build java or c++.
I suspect it would be worth getting powerpc-apple-darwin6
to do this.

Thanks for woking on this project!!!!

Builds of tcl and expect allow specifying --prefix=<install location>.
You can put them wherever you want, then set up your PATH, TCL_LIBRARY,
and DEJAGNULIBS to specify where to look for them when running the
tests.

If you're using the installed tools, make sure the bin directory
containing expect and runtest is in your PATH, and set up TCL_LIBRARY
and DEJAGNULIBS appropriately. I don't know where Red Hat installs
them.

How do you tell expect src build, or dejagnu where the tcl and expect

Successfully used GCC 3.0.4 to build Linux kernel 2.4.19-pre6. GCC
3.0.4 replaces GCC 2.96 from RH 7.2
I also wanted better SIMD support (which I believe is in GCC 3.0.4).
gcc -v

FIY:
my kernel is a newer version than the previous Mandrake 8.1 info and I built
every language.
Used the stock (and pretty buggy) RedHat/Mandrake 2.96 compiler to build it.

i686-pc-linux-gnu
Madrake 8.1
glibc 2.2.4
kernel 2.4.17

ran GNU regression testsuite to verify. All passed, even got some
unexpected successes.

Thanks, I've added this to the GCC 3.0 build status page at

By the way, I'll soon be adding information to that page about the
versions of GCC that were reported, with links to the archived mail

Can you please write up something for the platform-specific installation
instructions explaining what needs to be done for this target and where
to get the patch? You can either submit the patch against install.texi
or, if you prefer, write up the text and I'll turn it into a patch.

Thanks,

Yes, it requires a patch to build/run on a system without the HP

OK, I added the following to the GCC 3.0 build status page:

sparcv9-sun-solaris2.7 Successful (C and C++, built with 32->64 bit cross compiler)

Okay. What makes it "less than straightforward" is that you have to
build a cross compiler from 32->64 bit first, and then a native
compiler.

Hmm. I haven't run into any problems with it.

If these aren't straightforward then I'd rather not include them in the
build status list unless there is good documentation about all specific
problems for them in the section of install.texi about "Host/target
specific installation notes for GCC".

Do these work for 3.0.1? I though that 64-bit sparc support wouldn't
be available until 3.1.

Yes , egcs 1.0.3a on an Alpha running RedHat 5.1, kernel 2.0.34.

> Include the output from running srcdir/config.guess.

alpha-unknown-linux-gnu

I ran make check, obtaining a few failures. I just let you know what they are,
in case you find this information useful.

Thanks

Hello--
As per the request in the installation instructions, I'm writing to
let you know that I successfully installed egcs-1.0.3a on my system,
which is a Linux Pentium MMX PC running a 2.0.33 kernel. config.guess
reports i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1, which looks right to me.
Thanks for your work on this!

I successfully built and installed on the following platform:

mips-sgi-irix6.3

To configure I simply had to run configure with no arguments.

Thanks!

I was able to successfully build egcs-1.0.1 patchec to pgcc on a RedHat
5.0 system. I used all defaults on the configure except
--enable-threads. I also used it to rebuild kernel 2.0.33, with
-mpentium -O6 -fno-exceptions which is running as I am sending this.
