Hi,
I am trying to find a way to download the GNU C++ compiler as per directions
in "C++ Programming in easy steps" by Mike McGrath. Can't figure out how to
do it. Could you offer some help or direction?
Thanks,
Stan Gosselin

http://gcc.gnu.org/install/ gives instructions. However, it might be easier
for you to have a prepackaged version -- your system distributor might
well have such a package available.

You can install a binary package.
See <http://gcc.gnu.org/install/binaries.html>, ore search the mailing list
archives <http://gcc.gnu.org/lists.html> for other suggestions.

I've downloaded the files from the specified location below, but I do not really
understand where to start for the installation.
Previously, I have only installed SUNWspro from a CD, which was quite
straightforward. This seems quite different.
Could somebody give me an indication of what files I need and where they need to
be located and also what needs to be run to install
the software correctly?

Thanks
Kabir

Dear Sir/Madam

We are need of a C compiler that is compatible with the existing
software/hardware that we have in place.
At the moment we have Sun Solaris 2.8, and a SYBASE 11.0.3 database. Our C
compiler needs to be compatible with
both the Solaris machine and the SYBASE database and version 12.5 of SYBASE
open client.
Could you tell me if you have a version of a C compiler that fulfills the
conditions above?

Thanks
Kabir

Please have a look at

http://gcc.gnu.org/install/binaries.html

You need a C compiler to compile gcc. If you don't have one, you need
a binary version. We don't provide any, so you have to get them from
somebody else.

Isn't a C compiler part of every HP/UX system? It is called 'cc',
isn't it?

Anyway, the HPUX porting center also has Perl binaries, at

http://hpux.cae.wisc.edu/hppd/hpux/Languages/perl-5.005_03/

To Whom It May Concern ( if above mailing address is not correct, could you
forward this e-mail to correct person, thanks)

My name is Ralph and I am trying to install Perl and require a C compiler to
compile the source code. But I
don't have C compiler on my server, so I am trying to install Gcc and
compile the source code. There is a
question I need to ask

1. Is Gcc C compiler can compile perl source code

2. What is the best way to download the GNU C, C++ compiler and knowing it
is suite for you system.
The web site I go to is :

Dear Compiler-specialists,

after some years doing nothing with gnu compilers I want to start to use a
gnu c++-compiler again. My problem I have forgotten about all my experiences
with them and it seems several things have changed. The name has changed
from gcc to egcs but there are still gcc releases.

It would be very nice if someone could help to pick the right compiler for
my tasks. I want to compile some middle size c++-code programs and I want to
include the Rogue Wave h++ functions. I know from RogueWave itself that
beginning from gcc 2.8 the compiler doesn't find big problems with the h++
code anymore.
Is anyone there to tell me about Rogue Wave h++ and the egcs compiler or the
gcc2.95 or gcc 2.95.1?

Thanks for your help in advance.
Best regards, Christine
