Bootstrap of native mingw builds (almost) out of the box, at 2001-12-07
08:57 NZDT, and has done for months. The (almost) come from a makefile
problem reported here:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2001-11/msg01953.html
with patch offered here:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2001-11/msg02044.html

That problem should not effect build environ that support symlinks.

You need to have mingw runtime and w32api pre-installed in
<prefix>/<target>

Danny, thanks for the advice about installing the mingw32 runtime --
it worked. Have you been able to get a cross-C++-compiler (and
cross-libstdc++) working, or just C?

My configure line was

  ../src/configure --enable-threads=posix --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --enable-languages=c++,java,c --disable-nls --target=mingw

if that helps...
