I've checked in the merge of basic-improvements to the trunk.  You'll
note that version.c has had "3.3" changed to "3.4" now, too.

basic-improvements is now a dead branch, and should not be used
further.

Got that (at 18:35 UTC).

Unfortunately, it doesn't build on my system (powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu) 
- probably not your fault.  The final link of the (shared) libgcj fails 
with:

	ld terminated with signal 9 [killed], core dumped.

Probably this 256 Mbyte Titanium is too small to build it.
