When a frontend relies of some specific version of MI, it can explicitly set it
via --i=mi2 command line option to GDB. Thus this information is known to FE.
I don't think that this bug is valid. (Besides, it's been 6 years since the
original report)

And -list-features is exactly the mechanism a frontend may use to take
advantage of new commands/features.
