Very long backtrace. Here's part of it:

Is there any evidence that the email is correctly sent to Bugzilla (more
exactly: email_in.pl)? If not, then the bug in not on the Bugzilla side. If
yes, then having a copy of the email sent would help debug the problem. fche?

--- Comment #1 from Martin Galvan <martin.galvan at tallertechnologies dot com> ---
I did some more testing with -O3-compiled code, and noticed that sometimes the
compiler will scatter instructions belonging to an inline function all over the
caller function. After doing an objdump of my binary, I found out that the
DW_TAG_inlined_subroutine DIE has a DW_AT_ranges attribute which points at the
.debug_ranges section. Looking at the ranges list stored there I noticed we
could, theoretically, place a (software?) breakpoint at the addresses past the
end of each range, thus delimiting the inline function and stopping
out_of_scope from triggering. I don't have time to code it myself right now,
though.
Now, a question: does the Python API offer any way to get the end of the
current range for an optimized inline function? I tried using gdb.Block's end
attribute, but that gives an incorrect address.

Summary: parse full c++ scope even if current language is c?
Product: gdb
Version: HEAD
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: c++
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: dje at google dot com
Target Milestone: ---
this won't generalize very well, but for the particular case of c/c++ this may
be useful.
c-exp.y:yylex early exits if the parse language is not c++.
if (parse_language (pstate)->la_language != language_cplus
|| (current.token != TYPENAME && current.token != COLONCOLON
&& current.token != FILENAME))
return current.token;
this means, for example, that if one is stopped inside a c function and one
does "p std::cerr" that the full text of "std::cerr" will not be parsed.
it also means that gdb will do a (pointless) symbol lookup of "cerr".
a conservative route could be to also check if the current language was c.
haven't dug into whether anything will break.
i saw a modest perf improvement for "p std::cerr" in my testcase.
dunno how general an improvement this would be.
