Whenever GDB encounters a problem starting up the inferior, it effectively
only prints

  During startup program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

Users have reported wishing that this message was more helpful. I don't
know off the top of my head how possible this is, but perhaps there might
be a way to tell users exactly why a process has failed to startup.
