The test suite has gdb_compile_pthreads, gdb_compile_shlib,
and even gdb_compile_shlib_pthreads.  It would be better
to combine all of these into gdb_compile, using the already-existing
"options" feature.  This in turn could simplify some compilations
via build_executable_from_specs.
