I think the code looks correct in fileio.cc:

void
host_to_fileio_stat (struct stat *st, struct fio_stat *fst)
{
...
  host_to_fileio_ulong ((LONGEST) st->st_size, fst->fst_size);


and gdbserver definitely sends the entire fio_stat back.
So I think this was probably fixed sometime in the intervening years.
