/src/md5/sum ... what is the purpose and stuffing of this file? I could
not understand this file.
Can any one put some light on my query?

I'm guessing src/md5.sum from a snapshot

it contains a checksum of all the files in a distro -> very useful if
you're tracking GDB using patches as it lets you confirm that the
patched result is correct.
