Hello GDB developer team,
I have installed an old version of GDB from *https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gdb/
<https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gdb/>*. Then I simply ran
./configure
make
sudo make install
to install GDB 9.2 to /usr/local/bin on my Mac. Right now I want to
completely remove this old version, because it crash my problem and
consumes 100% CPU sometimes. Could you please tell me how to uninstall it
in my case? Thank you so much!
Best,
Emily

Assuming that you still have the build directory available, your very
first bet _would be_:
$ cd /path/to/build
$ make uninstall
the uninstall target is not supported in this tree
Then this is what I suggest as a workaround: Build GDB 9.2 again, but this
time install it in a path that is new and no other files reside in:
$ cd /path/to/build
$ /path/to/src/binutils/configure ... --prefix=/local/pristine/path ...
$ make
$ make install # no root permission is needed
Now, enlist all the files installed in that path and (manually) remove
their counter part on your system:
$ find /local/pristine/path
/local/pristine/path/usr/bin/gdb # remove "/usr/bin/gdb"
/local/pristine/path/usr/share/doc/... # ...
Cheers,
Shahab

If GDB is the only thing in /usr/local, then you can perform a 'rm -rf
/usr/local/*' followed by a `hash -r' to clear the program cache.
Otherwise, perform the 'make uninstall' as suggested by Shahab.
