regex_internal.c uses the syntax "static unsigned int inline", but this
is unusual (I think the C standard warns that it's obsolescent) and
some compilers warn about it; see

I'll attach a patch.

That's bogus. The syntax in the ISO C99 spec does not have any such requirement
and the compilers complaining are broken.
