Bug #: 13725
Summary: __gconv_lock missing pthread_atfork handler
Product: glibc
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: libc
AssignedTo: unassigned@sourceware.org
ReportedBy: wingo@pobox.com
CC: drepper.fsp@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Consider a multithreaded program that forks while another thread is doing an
iconv_open. This program might deadlock on the __gconv_lock, for obvious
reasons.
I realize that POSIX does not define the behavior of a program that calls
non-async-signal-safe functions after a fork. However glibc does install
thread_atfork handlers for a number of other subsystems, including malloc, a
non-async-signal-safe call.
Suggestion: add a thread_atfork handler for the __gconv_lock.
