I highly recommend to use Fink in order to install GSL (and a lot of
other Open Source software) on MacOS X. It takes care automatically of
building shared libraries and it makes your life a lot easier managing,
installing and updating a tons of software.

I recently installed GSL on my OSX Mac. The make seemed to run without
error. According to your documentation, at least 2 libraries are to be
created: libgsl.a and libgslcblas.a. However, libgsl.a is not created. A
libgslcblas.la file is created but cc does not seem to recognize it as a
linkable library.
What's wrong?
