Sun Solaris 2.6, gcc 2.95.3 compiler
>Description:
Insight apparently installs version 8.0 of tcl-tk in the
target directory. This overwrites the newer version of
tcl-tk 8.3.3 that I had there and broke programs that were
compiled to use the new version.

Can the Insight gdb install be changed to not overwrite
tcl-tk and instead use a newer version if it is already
installed?

State-Changed-Why:
Unfortunately, the version of Tcl that comes with Insight must be used. While we are working toward fixing this, it is important to continue to use the repository versions of tcl, tk, itcl, and tix.

If you already have a newer version of tcl installed, then use a different "--prefix" and "--exec-prefix" for your builds, putting Insight in, for example, /usr/local/insight instead of just /usr/local. I regularly do this and have several versions of tcl installed on my machine(s).
