I have used a beta version of gdb (thanks to Scott Howard) for
powerpc-eabi which had the "ocd
reg" command to set SPRs. This command does not appear in Insight.

Is this command officially part of GDB or is there another way to set
SPRs
for powerpc processors.

Do the Insight snaphots use the latest versions of GDB ? (latest
released versions or latest snapshots ?).

Brendan Simon.

This must be part of some patches that Scott or somebody owes me; I'm
pretty sure gdb-patches hasn't gotten any submissions for anything
like an ocd regs command. Since the registers are only accessible via
special instructions, one would need GDB mods.

Insight snapshots are a superset of the GDB snapshot made on the
same day.

We use the DiabData compiler for the PowerPC and the SDS SingleStep debugger all running
under MS-Windows. This is not my preferred development environment but it is what I have
to use. I have cross-compiled gcc and insight to run in the cygwin environment and
targetting the powerpc.
As it happens, I have just ported our application code to compile with gcc. I tried to
download it to the board into DRAM via the bdm but I could not setup the registers,
memory controller, etc as the "ocd reg" command was not available. I don't if it has
changed or if it is now in the CVS repository.

There has been quite a bit of discussion on the GDB mailing list in the last 2 weeks
about the binutils CVS repository moving to sourceware.cygnus.com. The gdb repository is
now merged with the binutils repository.
