Hello,

I am a newbie programmer, and I am trying to get a stable development
environment set up.

I see on your main page that I need to apply a patch to Insight to get
it to work with the current version of Cygwin.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I actually apply this patch?
:-)

I tried to compile Insight as is, and while there were a bunch of
errors, the program will start. It seems to work for debugging my
trivial programs, but I would assume that something is still amiss...

Thanks,
David
:-)

Did you download a "snapshot"? If you downloaded the "release", I would
really urge you to switch to the snapshot. It is much more usable. (And
you won't have to apply any patches to it to use with cygwin.)

The "patch" program will do it. Typically, use "patch < PATCHFILE". I'll
refer you to patch's help (patch --help).

A bunch of errors? Of what sort?

Keith

Did you read the "News" message in the web page?

The version of insight that comes with the cygwin installation is
pretty recent. No patching required. Just install the "gdb" package.
