Subject: [Bug localedata/27955] New: Czech translation of EAI_ADDRFAMILY error misleading
Date: Fri, 04 Jun 2021 19:28:31 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-27955-716@http.sourceware.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27955

            Bug ID: 27955
Summary: Czech translation of EAI_ADDRFAMILY error misleading
           Product: glibc
           Version: unspecified
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: localedata
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: ondrej at caletka dot cz
CC: libc-locales at sourceware dot org
  Target Milestone: ---

The Czech translation of getaddrinfo error EAI_ADDRFAILY "Address family for
hostname not supported" translates to "Třída adres není podporována". This
omits the "for hostname" part of the original sentence which makes it hard to
understand the issue. It sounds like the address family is not supported by the
OS at all.

I propose to rephrase it as "Třída adres není pro dané jméno počítače
podporována". This is in line with the translation of the word "hostname" in
other EAI errors.
