If I'm not wrong it would seem that between SUSE (Andreas Scwhab),
RedHat, and ARM (Marcus Shawcroft) we might all agree that it 
should default to /lib64?

It doesn't matter to Debian/Ubuntu because they are using multiarch.

Marcus, what do you say?
