When somebody replies to a PR I end up with an email message that is
CC'd to "java-prs@sourceware". If I then follow this up I get a
bounce. I hate having to remember to edit the reply to say
"java-gnats" and not "java-prs".

Does somebody know offhand if this is just a misconfiguration
somewhere?

I'd look into it, but I'm doing other stuff tonight. So I thought I'd
ask and see if somebody just knew.

What, the bounce message saying you shouldn't send mail to java-prs?
I did that on purpose, I do the same thing for the cvs commit
mailing lists. Else people would inevitably send mail notes to
these lists, which they shouldn't.

Or are you wanting the mail note to have java-gnats in the headers?

I don't know how much can be done about it -- gnats receives a mail
note on java-gnats (or a gnats operation like closing a PR spits
out a mail note) and that mail note is sent to java-prs. It wouldn't
be correct to Cc: these notes to java-gnats because gnats would
loop, resending the note to itself over and over.

On the other hand, we don't want to have people cc:'ing anything
to a -prs list because then the traffic won't be recorded in the
PR's history.

I'm outlining the results of the architecture I set up (-gnats and
-prs mailing lists) -- they all fall out from the original setup
decisions. If there's a change to be made, it'll have to be to the
underlying organization of mailing lists & gnats. Then again, maybe
I'm missing something obvious.

Yeah. I just want to be able to reply to the message, without
thinking too hard, and have it end up in the PR.

That was my suspicion.

Hm, for some reason my mind blanked when I sent my note and I forgot
to wonder aloud if a Reply-To: could be set to point to java-gnats
on all outgoing mail. It doesn't seem unreasonable. (I had
_meant_ to write something about that when I started writing my
note, but the evil Mac user in the cube next to me used his mind
control to suppress the idea until after I'd sent the note. I hate
it when that happens)

It'd probably involve a change to the core GNATS to do, or it could
be done in the -prs mailing lists (by adding an entry to
/qmail/lists-sourceware/java-prs/headeradd).

This will omit the sender from the CC, won't it?
It seems to me that gnats itself has to be involved in some way to get
this right.
