The gdb@ and gdb-patches@ are both archived on gmane.org. Since that
site makes messages available via both HTTP and NNTP, spam harvesters
could gather addresses from there. It tries to obscure the addresses
when it presents them via HTTP, but it can't really do that with NNTP.

GMANE does, however, have an option that list administrators can
request that will encrypt E-mail addresses when they appear in the
archives --- and provide forwarding so that the encrypted addresses
actually work. For details, see:

    http://gmane.org/tmda.php

I don't know a reliable way to check this, but it seems to me that
address encryption is not enabled for gdb@ and gdb-patches@. Could we
turn that on? The FAQ says how to go about that:

Are we--that is, the sourceware.org overseers--the list administrators
for this archiving? I mean, we do our own archiving on
sourceware.org. I don't know who set up archiving on gmane.org. Does
anybody know?

I think the gmane administrators consider us to be the list
administrators, even though none of us may have officially asked them to
gateway our mailing lists to news. They usually set up a newsgroup at
a user request and send "Is it ok?" queries to the list administrator
which is postmaster AT sourceware. And, I usually say ok to that, IIRC.

But, hey, that doesn't make me the administrator of all of the stuff
that is gatewayed to gmane. Really. It doesn't.

I think Andrew should get the final say on the gdb lists.
