You'll probably get better/quicker answers if you ask this of the
SID folks :-)

IIRC, building SID on CygWin is known to have problems.

Thank you for your answer,
Did you mean that I must "configure" with the same argument with --prefix in
the same directory with cross-compiler?
I did it, but still had the same problem? It seems that it can't find msgfmt
on cygwin?
Could you provide me more detail make and install process steps? thanks a
lot.

if ur cross compilers are under the tree for eg: /tools/H-i686-pc-cygwin
then give this same path for --prefix and --exec-prefix options while
configuring sid.
this should work.

People trying to build SID on Cygwin have been perplexed by
the absense of the msgfmt program from gettext. So was I.

For Cygwin, you need the gettext-devel package to get msgfmt.
I just want to add this to the record so that the next hapless
Googler finds it and doesn't have to jump through the same hoops
that I did.

msgfmt is available under cygwin. You have to install the gettext
package.

Actually, you need the gettext-devel package, which was the point
of my post.
