We should support attaching to an existing process with stapdyn -x PID.
Dyninst can do this with BPatch::processAttach().
I actually suspect that *detaching* will be the harder part of this, making
sure we remove all instrumentation and return the process to normal.

Added in commit 18e3d52a.
But see also bug #14665, which impacts how well we can detach from the target.
