commit 90e6b60db3 introduced an alarm(60) call in stapio's "-c CMD" preparatory
code, as a protection against a deceased parent process. Unfortunately, the
code neglected to clear the alarm in the case of successful synch, and the
alarm survived the subsequent -c CMD execve(). That in turn kills CMD after 60
seconds. Whoops.
