Bug ID: 23477
Summary: userspace variant of timer probes for bpf
Product: systemtap
Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: bpf
Assignee: systemtap at sourceware dot org
Reporter: me at serhei dot io
Target Milestone: ---
Needed to support 'iotop.stp' style scripts as discussed in
https://sourceware.org/ml/systemtap/2018-q3/msg00029.html
From the 'language features' brainstorm:
# Timer probes
In addition to the perf-event based timers, there should be a timer probe that
runs in user space (without the limitations of kernel ebpf). This is needed to
support the common pattern of scripts that iterate through their associative
arrays and print a report every N seconds.
