OK, I'll contact the persons you mention.

    Then I'm 100% sure that PRs # 6680, 6766, 7509, 7626, 7747, 7777, 8452, 6796
are duplicates of the same bug. The six other PRs I mention in my mail
might be related to the same issue, but that's unclear.

So this makes for 8 PRs that you can collapse into a single one ! None
of them is significantly more accurate than the others, so picking a
random one would do. Perhaps the one PR that you keep should include a
reference to the ones that have been closed.

    Greetings,

    E.

All bug reports about this problem are for Tru64 UNIX V5.0 or V5.0A. GCC
has been bootstrapped with the bundled cc, at least in those cases when the
bootstrap compiler is mentioned at all. I therefore suppose that this
version of Compaq C may miscompile the stage1 compiler. Could you please
try to use Compaq C V6.5 from the Developer's Toolkit Supplement:

 	http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com/dtk/compaqc_ov.html

This version requires the OSF-DEV license PAK, though, so you should verify
its presence before trying to use the new compiler.

 	Rainer

This problem still exists with gcc-3.2.2. I've not been able to get gcc >
 3.0.4 to compile on Tru64 5.0A.
