Synopsis: N_SLINE stab not produced for simple declarations

Responsible-Changed-From-To: unassigned->ljrittle
Responsible-Changed-By: ljrittle

Responsible-Changed-Why:
    Mine.
State-Changed-From-To: feedback->closed
State-Changed-By: ljrittle
State-Changed-When: Wed Mar 26 07:14:16 2003
State-Changed-Why:
    Make your test case more complex:
    int foo(int);
    main()
    {
      int i;
      foo(i);
    }

    Compile, with a request for stabs:
    /usr/local/beta-gcc/bin/g++ -gstabs -S t.C # 3.4

    Looks OK to me. I also looked at your original case with
    2.95.4 as installed as the FreeBSD 4 system compiler and 3.2.2
    as installed from ports it also looked correct.

Synopsis: N_SLINE stab not produced for simple declarations

State-Changed-By: bangerth
State-Changed-When: Fri Mar 14 02:54:25 2003
State-Changed-Why:
    Hm, I can't reproduce this on my (linux) box. Can you
    say exactly what line you are looking for? With both
    2.95 and 3.0 and both gcc and g++, I get a line
    	.stabs	"i:(0,1)",128,0,3,-4
    in the output.

    Also, note that since gcc3.2, dwarf2 is the default
    debug format, so the point may be moot (although we might
    still want to fix it for systems that still use stabs).

    Thanks
      Wolfgang

the following code does not produce a N_SLINE stab for "int i". this bug ONLY happens with g++ and not gcc:

main()
{

}

The stab generator has to be fixed. I am going to spend next week patching my version and will post diff's here later.
